My name is Alan Travers and I’m a 29 year old amateur film-maker, hoping to move into the VFX industry, particularly the area of Digital Compositing.
I have a Degree in Information Technology and English and a Higher Diploma in Systems Analysis. I hope to return to college soon to study the art of Compositing with Escape Studios, London.
I shoot my films using a Canon 550D with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 as backup. My shaky hands are helped with my Velbron Sherpa 600R tripod and a Pixel Intervalometer takes care of my timelapse, bulb and remote shutter needs. I edit using Adobe Premiere Pro and I complete post-production using Adobe After Effects, Photoshop and Speedgrade. I’m currently learning how to create and composite photorealistic visual effects using Nuke, Silhouette, PFTracker and Maya.
I am based in Galway, Ireland, where I spend nearly all of my free time shooting short videos, timelapses, stop-motion, creating motion graphics and visual effects and taking far too many photographs.
My short films have been featured in International Film Festivals, one winning two awards at the Galway Film Festival in 2012. My photographs have been featured in “Digital Photographer” magazine, several books and publications.
